Steven Hardy
"If I Kill Myself This Christmas"

My editor, Jordan, turned me on to this high-spirited holiday tune. More than a little Randy Newman in this wry piece by Canadian Steven Hardy, which just shows that we materialistic Americans are not alone in being driven to desperation during this season of joy.

The song is one of the gems you can mine at mp3.com - fortunately, we've mined this one for you. It's one of two songs on Steven's personal page:

Steven Hardy is a composer and songwriter whose music has been performed by a wide range of artists from folk legend Murray McLauchlan to the internationally renowned chamber choir The Gerald Fagan Singers. His music has been heard on a variety of CBC radio network programs including After Hours, Basic Black, DNTO, and Morningside. He has composed scores for numerous theatre productions including the medical-musical Orchids. He is the recipient of 2 SOCAN awards. By day, Steven tells me he's a hospital lab technician - perhaps the Republicans' best argument for rejecting Canada's universal health plan...

By the way, if you're looking for more of a classic sound in MP3s, try this collection of free holiday songs, guaranteed to fit any bill:
